Twins in action AKA orchestra concert

This is the 5th grade orchestra concert. My son is on the left playing Viola. They have an amazing teacher (even the 4th graders had perfect timing which, if you play music will know, NEVER happens) and two hours of music a week in elementary school starting in 3rd grade. This concert include kids from three schools that only practiced together once. As a child with ADD, music has been important to both his development and self esteem.

The difference between the 5th grade orchestra and the 6th grade orchestra was HUGE. They were playing much more complicated music with separate parts and a couple solo's. At this age they have music daily with several concerts outside the school during the year. Princess starts on the left and changes place a couple times. She was concentrating so hard during the fast portions of the last song I thought she might catch fire. I'm a very proud mommy. I shouldn't have to live in an area I can't afford in order for my kids to have these opportunities with amazing teachers. From free tutoring during lunch, to weekly progress emails (from all 6 teachers). It's made a huge difference in her grades and learning. They sound like 7th-8th graders from many other schools. This should be offered at ALL schools not just the schools in areas with heavy homeownership and private donations. Cuts in school funding should never be an option.

I think music should be compulsory in ALL schools - it's a shame that it isn't.
